Mbongeni Ngema’s family plans to dig out his b0dy and re-bury him in the cemetery of his choice at home.

Mbongeni Ngema, the South African creator of the Whoopi Goldberg film Sarafina!, died in a car accident at the age of 68. The news of his death left many devastated.

He was riding in a car involved in a head-on collision in South Africa’s Eastern Cape Province, according to a family statement. He died at a hospital in Mbizana.

The funeral service for veteran playwright and musical maestro Mbongeni Ngema was under way at the International Convention Centre in Durban, and his send-off was live broadcast on South African news channels.

Before his burial, the family of the late playwright and producer in Nhlwathi confirmed that there were divisions over his final resting place.

According to SABC, they received information from a recording in which Ngema expressed the wish to be buried at home in Nhlwathi in northern KwaZulu-Natal. Some members of the Ngema family support this, while others have preferred that the funeral be held in Durban.
According to Sunday World, the family of late playwright Mbongeni Ngema has begun a legal process to exhume his bones and bury him at the cemetery of his choosing.

The Sunday World revealed that Ngema’s family is seeking to exhume Ngema’s body. They are taking the legal steps to make sure they have permission to dig out his body for reburial at the actor’s home, eMfana.
