Fusion Cocktail Lounge in Melville, Johannesburg, the restaurant owned by media personality Mohale Motaung is said to have already permanently shut down, ZiMoja recently reported.

On 6 March last year, Mohale Motaung announced that he had opened Fusion Cocktail Lounge.

“New Man. New Club. Allow me to introduce to you my newest and latest business venture, welcome to @FusionCocktailL,” he wrote on his timelines.

This comes after a public breakup with former Idols judge Somizi Mhlongo. “It was a personal project, something that Mohale wanted to do for a long time, even before his relationship… The restaurant hosted some of South Africa’s top celebrities and parties,” an insider speaking with the publication was quoted as saying.

Motaung and Mhlongo tied the knot in 2019 and called it quits not too long afterward. With a 22-year age gap, Mohale was often looked at as a gold digger in the relationship with the successful TV personality.

However, with his new lounge, it proved to a lot of people that he wasn’t only a pretty face.

Nonetheless, a friend and former employee has confirmed that Motaung’s establishment has been permanently closed down for some time now, according to the publication.

“He tried to keep it open. There were a few months when he battled with rent… Staff was not paid, stock needed to be bought and rent does not come cheap,” the insider was quoted as saying.

It was reported that Motaung also lost many customers over some time as the lounge would be closed a lot of the time.

In the past, Mohale Motaung worked as a Financial Planner for Liberty Group, an IT Recruitment Specialist for another company, and was also self-employed at a cosmetic company named Elahom Cosmetics, this according to his LinkedIn account.

At the end of 2023, some fans were convinced he had gotten engaged again, The Citizen reported. This reportedly comes after he posted pictures of himself wearing a ring on his left ring finger. However, TshisaLIVE did report that he is only married to the money for now. In fact, it was reported that he was working on launching a cosmetic range and a reality show for YouTube.

“I will be showcasing everything I have been busy with from work and family stuff,” Motaung was quoted as saying at the time.
