Mpho Popps to host fifth season of ‘Most Ridiculous’
Mpho ‘Popps’ Modikaone is paving a new path for himself as host of the fifth season of ‘Most Ridiculous’
In the ever-evolving world of South African showbiz, Mpho “Popps” Modikoane has been making waves lately, proving himself with pure talent. Now, come February, he’s taking the reins from SuzelleDIY as the host of the fifth season of ‘Most Ridiculous.’
Having already rocked the hosting gig for shows like ‘The Masked Singer South Africa’ and the ‘Comedy Central Roast of Khanyi Mbau,’ Popps is on a winning streak.
Talking about this, he said, “To step into the shoes of such a great it’s an absolute honour and privilege but also to handle an international format it’s great.”
He gave a sneak peek into the new season, and talked about the craziness of the show complete with a star-studded guest list, including Robot Boii, Faith Nketsi, Sol Phenduka, and more.
“The content we watch is ridiculous! We’ve pranked some guests and their reactions have been ridiculous,” he said.
THE FIRST MISTAKE HE MADE AS A CREATIVE
Caught in the midst of shooting ‘Most Ridiculous,’ Popps took a breather in a small chat with IOL. He spoke on how hectic his schedule had been and how he manages to care for his mental, physical, and spiritual well-being.
In fact, Popps admits that the first mistake he made as a creative just starting in this industry was he thought being creative meant he “was on a holiday permanently, that I could sleep whenever I wanted to, party as much as I wanted to.”
But then he “realised that for me to grow, for me to be better I have to look after myself and the lessons I’ve learned is that if I look after myself then I’m able to do so much more.”
HE PLANS TO MAKE THE MOST OF 2024
2023 wasn’t just a career whirlwind for him; he also tied the knot with the love of his life and is, according to IOL, more focused on hitting his goals.
And now, looking ahead to more achievements this year 2024, Popps promises more live shows, with the ‘Popcorn and Cheese’ tour in the pipeline. Despite the allure of big projects, it’s the joy of creative freedom that keeps his passion alive.
‘Most Ridiculous’ is gearing up to hit South African screens on 5 February 2024, at 21:00, exclusively on Comedy Central DStv Channel 122.
