Mpho shot after knock on the door
A GRIEVING dad is pleading for justice for his daughter.
Khethokuhle (Mpho) Hlapisi (20) was shot and killed by an unknown man in November 2024.
On the night she died, it was alleged that the 20-year-old from Nana’s Farm was visiting a friend when a man arrived at the shack and asked to speak to her.
She stepped out, and multiple gunshots rang out moments later.
To this day, the shooter’s identity remains a mystery, and no arrests have been made.
However, Mpho’s dad, who is also named Mpho, believes the man who shot his daughter is the same man who recently killed a 20-year-old Soweto woman, whose body was found hidden under her boyfriend’s bed.
He claimed his daughter was dating the suspected shooter at the time of her death.
“I suspect it’s the same man in the recent murder case in Soweto. I wasn’t aware of the relationship, and don’t know how long it was. I got information about their relationship from community members and decided to investigate it myself. I profiled him but couldn’t go further because I can’t take him in for questioning,” he said.
Mpho said his daughter was shot four times by someone who came looking for her.
“They realised they didn’t know the guy when they opened the door. This guy came looking for my daughter. It’s as if he knew her. Initially, I suspected he was a hit man sent by her boyfriend.
“When my daughter went out, she told the guy she didn’t know him and asked what he was looking for. He said he was sent by her boyfriend to fetch her so they can solve their relationship problems. Mpho asked who the boyfriend was as she didn’t know the man standing before her,” he said.
Mpho said he was told the man grabbed Mpho during the arguement.
“My daughter managed to break free and tried to flee. Unfortunately, she was shot multiple times. He then left and walked towards the street that leads to Lenasia,” he said.
Police spokeswoman Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi said they are investigating Mpho’s murder.
“There is no suspect arrested in that case as yet. The suspect remains unknown, and police have followed up on all the leads received and are still investigating,” she said.
Phe police clarified that the suspect in the Soweto murder case has no other cases formally registered against him.
“The suspect in the Soweto matter currently does not have any other cases against him, but the investigation team is profiling him,” said Nevhuhulwi.
