“New Name Emerges in AKA Murder Case: Public Reaction in SA”

A new name was dropped in court yesterday. Sydney Mfundo Gcaba is accused of allegedly sending one of the five murder suspects over R800k.

As the bail applications proceeded on Wednesday at the Durban Magistrates Court, a new name was dropped in the murder case of Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane, according to Power 98.7

NETIZENS REACT TO NEW DEVELOPMENTS IN AKA AND TIBZ MURDER CASE

According to the publication, in court, the Prosecution alleged that the estimated R800k which was paid into one of the suspects’ accounts came from a man named Sydney Mfundo Gcaba. The state was reported to have claimed that the day after AKA and Tibz were murdered, accused number four (Mziwethemba Gwabeni) made a call to a number linked to Gcaba.

According to TshisaLIVE, Detective Pillay made the allegation in court yesterday while reading an affidavit by prosecutor advocate Elvis Gcweka.

Lindani Ndimande, 35, Lindokuhle Ndimande, 29, Siyanda Myeza, 21, Mziwethemba Gwabeni, 36, and Lindokuhle Mkhwanazi, 30, are suspects in the murder case of AKA and Tibz. The late duo was shot and killed outside Wish restaurant in Florida Road in Durban on 10 February 2023.

The five suspects are facing several charges including two counts of murder, attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, possession of unlawful firearms and possession of unlawful ammunition.

The SABC reported that the Prosecution has also revealed how the five suspects arrested were linked to the assassination through cellphone records, vehicle tracking, CCTV footage and ballistic evidence.

State Prosecutor Advocate Lawrence Gcaba was quoted as saying: “Upon investigation carried out on the scene where the Mercedes-Benz was abandoned, it was established there was an attempt to set the vehicle alight by one of the suspects.”

It’s said that he also added that airtime was bought from a tuck shop metres away from where the car was abandoned. Sphamandla Ngcobo was identified as the one who recharged his cellphone with the purchased airtime.

“As in Gcaba brothers? They do all this violence within the taxi industry but what did AKA have to do with it? I reckon they were middlemen as they have shooters on call,” @iNJBL replied.
