Nadia Nakai, AKA’s girlfriend at the time of his death last year sent the slain rapper a birthday tribute as seen on Instagram on Sunday, 28 January.

Sunday, 28 January marked slain rapper AKA’s 36th birthday. The day also marked the rapper’s first birthday since he died last year AKA– real name Kiernan Jarryd Forbes was gunned down on 10 February 2023 on Florida Road in Durban.
Taking to Instagram, Nadia Nakai posted a video of herself by AKA’s grave. She visited the Company hitmaker’s grave along with his parents Tony and Lynn Forbes as well as the rapper’s eight-year-old daughter Kairo.
“Happy Heavenly Birthday @akaworldwide. We all miss you so much! ♾️ Got 36 balloons to send to you, and in true Kairo fashion they had to be biodegradable to not harm the environment… Today is painful 💔♾️,” Nadia Nakai captioned the video.

LATEST ON THE RAPPER’S MURDER INVESTIGATION
It’s almost a year since the rapper was killed and no suspects have been arrested. Last year, Minister of Police Bheki Cele announced that the getaway cars and the gun used in the successful plot to assassinate the rapper had been found.
In December 2023, TshisaLIVE reported that there are two people who know “for sure” how AKA ended up dead and are being kept safely. “We know who we are chasing. And those two guys must be kept very safe because they know what happened on that day [10 February 2023] and even beyond what happened,” Cele was quoted as saying.
