Orlando Pirates veteran shot in a house burglary.

It is reported that Stanley Tshabalala, former coach of Soweto-based football team Orlando Pirates was shot inside of his family home on Wednesday.

According to reports by news publication the Daily Sun and The Citizen, it was revealed that a burglary took place at the Tshabalala household just after midday.

In a statement released on Thursday, a family spokesperson Thato Matuka stated: “The matter is currently in the hands of the South African Police Services.

“The Tshabalala family would like to thank the public for their messages of support during this time and have asked for privacy while Bra Stan is recovering,”

The Citizen revealed that Stanley is one of the founding members of the football team Kaizer Chiefs. Later in his career he also became the coach of a now-successful opposition in the form of Mamelodi Sundowns.

Nicknamed for his desire to keep the ball moving, the 75-year-old was popularly known as the “Screamer”, however, has gained the respect of many in the football fraternity to this day.

While there is still limited information surrounding this developing story, the family is confident in leaving the matter in the hands of the South African Police Services.

South African broadcaster SABC News reported that Stanley is currently recovering in hospital.

Furthermore, fans on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) have rallied behind the veteran coach to wish him a speedy recovery.
