BOYFRIEND ACCUSED OF MURDERING CHEF THEMBEKILE LETLAPE

The lifeless body of the 38-year-old chef – who was affectionately known as “Pastry Princess” – was allegedly discovered at Zitha’s home in Fourways, Johannesburg, on Thursday, 30 May.

According to Kaya News, her father Dr Kgosi Letlape – who is a former South African Medical Association Chairperson — went looking for her after she sent her mother a concerning text message.

The celebrity chef was the founder of The Pastry Princess – a bespoke patisserie that specialises in wedding and speciality cakes, desserts, high tea, confectionaries and pastries.

COURT HEARS ZITHA WAS PREVIOUSLY ACCUSED OF ASSAULT

In court on Friday, the magistrate reportedly asked Zitha if he had any pending cases in connection with gender-based-violence or protection orders against him.

Responding to the magistrate, Zitha reportedly said he does not have any. However, senior prosecutor Yusuf Baba denied his response. Baba told the court that Zitha has a pending warrant of arrest for assault and that the charges would be added to the charge sheet against him.

The matter has been postponed to next week Thursday, 13 June, to arrange a bail application date for Zitha.

CONFESSING TO THE CRIME?

A video of Zitha seemingly confession to murdering Letlape has been circulating on social media.

In the video on X, Zitha – whose hands and feet appear to be cuffed as he walks – can be heard confessing that what he did was a mistake. However, he does not mention the act he is confessing to.

The 44-second-long clip shows Zitha (dressed in a red golf t-shirt and a black jacket) walking behind a man wearing a beige bomber jacket. Behind Zitha is a devastated man recording him and probing him with questions as he walks.

“How could you be so evil?” the upset man behind the camera asks.

“I… it was a mistake,” Zitha replies.

“A mistake? You know you can’t take it back?” the man continues.

Zitha responds, “I know… and I’m eternally regretful for it and that’s why I’m confessing to everything because I am guilty and I cannot take it back. I am sorry.”
