‘We have six suspects that have been arrested and detained’: Bheki Cele opens up about the arrests made in the AKA and Tibz murder case.
Minister of Police Bheki Cele On Tuesday, 27 February confirmed six people in connection of the murders of the late AKA and Tibz have been arrested.

Speaking Live during a press conference, Minister Bheki Cele said he hoped South Africans will now sleep better knowing that they have finally nabbed the people connected to the murder of AKA and his long*term friend Tibz.
AKA — real name Kiernan Jarryd Forbes was killed in 2023. The slain rapper was gunned down with his long-term friend Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane on Florida road.
The people connected to the duo’s murders have been arrested and are set to appear in court on Thursday, Cele said.
“I am sure you have been making the call to say the person was in video [then] why has he not been arrested. The story is unlike evidence. What you see, people will still have to investigate. To you, there was one person to be arrested [but] six people have been arrested,” Cele said.
SIX SUSPECTS: MORE ABOUT THE PLOT
On Monday, Times of Swatini reported that members of the Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) found two of the men in hiding in their country on Friday. The two South African men are said to be brothers and between the ages of 28 and 29.
Speaking about the other men linked in the case, the Provincial Commissioner, Lucky Mkhwanazi said the suspects played different roles the day the duo was killed.
“As the minister said, we have six suspects that have arrested and detained in connection with the murder of two individuals Mr Kiernan Forbes also known as AKA and Mr Tebello Motsoane who’s also known as Tibz… These six, they played a different role during the operation,” Mkhwanazi said.
“We have the coordinator who is basically the mastermind of the whole operation, he is in custody. We have two shooters that you also saw on social media. We have two spotters – one of the spotters was inside the restaurant observing Mr Forbes and his friends,” Mkhwanazi added.
