‘Over the years I struggled going into my full calling, always saw myself as unworthy’: #RHODurban star Nonku Williams opens up.
Real Housewives of Durban (RHOD) star Nonku Williams has spoken candidly about backsliding and not fully emersing herself in her spiritual calling.
NONKU WILLIAMS EXPLAINS WHY SHE’S STRUGGLED WITH HER CALLING
In an interview with TshisaLIVE, the businesswoman (who is also a qualified pastor) said she giving her life to the Lord in 2002. However, Nonku said the journey has been tough.
“Over the years I struggled going into my full calling, always saw myself as unworthy,” she said.
The A2B Wine owner, who is also a divorcee, said she struggled even more when she was allegedly being abused by her ex-husband whom she shares two sons with. Nonku has three children in total, her eldest child is a daughter she shares with late gospel music Sifiso Ncwane.
“During my married years, I decided — out of love for God — to undertake a course in theology. Those three years of studying about God and His word were the best years of my life! Even after all that I struggled to walk into my God’s purpose.
“I doubted myself, and my marriage falling apart due to abuse was another contribution, as I started drinking during my separation. Basically I started living like a person who wasn’t saved. Not once did God leave me, I also never stopped loving Him. In all the mess I got myself into, God always pulled me out of it and has given me so many chances. I know now, more than ever, the time is now to walk into God’s full purpose and to do [what] He called me to do.”
‘I ENVISION MYSELF AS AN EVANGELIST’
Further opening up, Nonku said she although she blackslid many times she but was always “aware of God’s presence, love and grace over my life.”
“I believe that God has placed me on the platform I am on, with so many followers to preach the word of God, and the souls of some people would be on my hands. I just want to do the will of God.
“I envision myself as an evangelist, reaching out to women all over the world and sharing my own story of the things I have experienced and overcome, and, of course, preaching Jesus, ” she added.
‘RHOD’ REUNION DRAMA
Nonku is one of the longest-serving cast members on RHOD, alongside Sorisha Naidoo – as the two stars have been on the reality TV series since its inception.
This week, the Showmax reality series wrapped up its fourth season, which was packed with drama. For Nonku, the biggest scandal was still her failed and drama-fuelled relationship with her ex-fiance Dumisani “RD” Ndlazi.
The pair started dating in 2022 and ended their relationship in 2023.
However, during their relationship, Nonku and RD made headlines and trended for all the wrong reasons, including rape and scamming allegations levelled against RD.
According to a 2014 article by the Zululand Observer, the businessman was accused of allegedly raping a 20-year-old woman. He was arrested and later released on R2 000 bail. In addition, a media statement on the South African Police Services (SAPS) website revealed that he was sentenced to 10 years in prison in 2016.
After their nasty break-up, Nonku alleged that RD stole material from her construct company worth R300 000. She also alleged he used muthi on her.
Since then, the ex-couple has been serving each other letters of demands.
