As Chris Brown prepares to perform in South Africa, fans are eagerly anticipating his collaboration with rising star Naledi Aphiwe on stage.

The buzz surrounding their joint performance of *Shooter*—a track from his 11th studio album *11:11*, which features Naledi’s vocals—has electrified the music scene. Fans are thrilled to witness Naledi, a 17-year-old talent from Inanda, KwaZulu-Natal, perform alongside the R&B superstar.

However, not everyone is pleased about Chris Brown’s upcoming tour. A petition has been circulating, calling for the cancellation of his shows in South Africa due to his past domestic abuse allegations. As of now, it’s unclear whether the petition will succeed in stopping his performances, but the debate continues to stir mixed reactions among the public.

Naledi’s journey to fame began when Chris Brown shared a video of her singing on his Instagram stories in October 2022, praising her incredible voice. Since then, her life has changed dramatically. In addition to performing with Chris Brown, she received R56,207 ($3,000) from being sampled on *Shooter*, helping to launch her music career.

In an interview with *TshisaLIVE*, Naledi expressed her gratitude: “Chris Brown did what I would have never done. There are many people who are talented, and he chose a child from a small city like mine. I appreciate him so much.” She added that the opportunity has improved her family’s situation.

Looking ahead, Naledi plans to use her platform to continue making music and content. She’s also planning to visit her mother’s grave to fix it, as her family couldn’t afford to do so last year.

With over 80,000 Instagram followers, Naledi has already released two songs: *Uyangijabulisa* featuring Nomfundo Moh, and *Zojiki Izinto* featuring Fezeka Dlamini. Supported by her sister, musician Nontokozo Mkhize, Naledi dreams of collaborating with other top South African artists.

Balancing school and music, Naledi, a grade 11 student at Khethokuhle Secondary School, credits her teacher Thami Bhengu for supporting her musical journey. After he filmed her and her classmates singing in school, Naledi’s path to fame was set in motion.

As the excitement builds for her upcoming performance with Chris Brown, Naledi’s future in music seems brighter than ever, despite the controversy surrounding Brown’s tour.
