Sanele murdered by his fiance after an argument
Shocking incident of domestic violence has left a family in grief after Sanele Cele, a 30-year-old man from KwaMachi in Harding, was allegedly murdered by his fiance, Swazelihle Mshengu.
The fatal stabbing reportedly took place after a heated argument between the couple, turning a once-promising union into a heartbreaking tragedy.
Sanele’s family was alerted to the tragedy through a call from their father early in the morning, urging Sanele’s brother, Njabulo, to rush to the hospital.
Upon arrival, the grim reality unfolded—Sanele had succumbed to a stab wound, leaving his family devastated and seeking answers.
Njabulo expressed the family’s anguish and their call for justice. “How is she going to face us as a family after what she did to our brother? How can she kill the father of her child, worse in his sleep?” he lamented in an interview with ZiMoja.
Sanele’s sister, Sihle, shed light on the troubled nature of the relationship. Despite paying lobola for Swazelihle in March, Sanele’s family observed a change in their dynamics.
Sihle described Swazelihle as “manipulative” and unwilling to allow Sanele to maintain close ties with his family. What began as a welcoming relationship with their makoti has ended in unimaginable grief.
The family believes the tragedy was premeditated. Njabulo alleged that Sanele, who was intoxicated at the time of the incident, would never have initiated a fight.
“Sanele was drunk, and he never fights when he’s drunk—he just sleeps. This was planned,” Njabulo claimed.
KwaZulu-Natal SAPS spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Robert Netshiunda, confirmed the incident.
A 24-year-old woman has been charged with murder and is expected to appear in court. The case will be closely monitored as Sanele’s family seeks justice for his untimely death.
