Skeem Saam star’s father ‘confessed’ to killing her mom, granny

Police captain, William Manku, the father of actress Amanda Manku, allegedly detailed how he ordered hit on his wife and mother-in-law.

William Manku, the father of Skeem Saam star Amanda Manku, allegedly hired hitmen to kill the actress’ mother and grandmother.

Manku (53), Nonhlanhla Ngubo (42) and David Khoza (40) appeared at the Magatle Magistrates Court in Zebediela, Limpopo, on Tuesday for their bail applications.

AMANDA MANKU’S FATHER CONFESSED – COURT HEARS

During cross-examination, the investigation officer in the case said that she does not believe Manku – who is a police captain – and his girlfriend, Ngubo, should be granted bail. Ngubo also works for law enforcement as a police sergeant.

The investigator told the court that Manku confessed he had intended for only his mother-in-law to be killed. His wife, Gladys Manku, and his mother-in-law, Lettie Maphuthuma, on murdered on 4 May 2021.

According to the investigator, Manku confessed that he found people to kill Maphuthuma. He allegedly drove with them to show them where she lived.

“He then pointed to his mother-in-law’s house, and they returned to Gauteng. The hitmen came back on their own as he had given them instructions to kill his mother-in-law,” the investigator said.

When “the job was done”, the hitmen called Manku to let him know that they had killed two people instead of one.

“He told them that one of the women was his wife. They said she ran away from the place, and they thought she might tell the community and they would be caught,” she continued.

Manku reportedly made payment to the hitmen.

According to the investigator, Manku was an abusive man as his late wife had opened two assault cases against him.

The three suspects are back in court on Thursday, 1 February.

FAMILY STATEMENT

Three weeks ago, the Skeem Saam actress released a statement confirming that her mother and grandmother’s alleged assassin’s had been arrested.

“On January 10th, 2024, three suspects appeared in the Lebowakgomo Magistrates court in connection with the murder of two women, aged 70 and 45. The mother and daughter were shot and killed by unknown men on 4 May 2021 at Makgophong village, Zebediela.”

The Manku family said they will, in due course, address media requests through a statement.

“This is a difficult time for the family, but we are trusting the SAPS and Judicial system to run its course as is necessary to bring the matter to a close.

“We wish to thank the public for their support during this time.”
