Solly Moholoʼs daughter slammed for shopping after receiving donations

Social media users have criticised the late gospel legend Solly Moholo’s daughter after spending a lot of money during shopping.

This is after she posted a video of herself carrying paper bags from high-end stores. In the video, she was walking and followed by an armed security guard.

The video had people talking, and many were saying she was spending money donated to them by the public.

The 65-year-old gospel star, whose real name was Solomon Majafela Molokoane, died on Wednesday, 2 October 2024, after spending weeks in hospital.

Solly fell ill in Botswana during an album pre-launch and was rushed to hospital.

He was known for his hit songs, Robala ka Kgotso and Mfelegetse.

While in hospital, his management team and family released a statement pleading for his fans and people of Mzansi to donate money for him to get operated on as the family couldn’t raise enough.

At his funeral, one of the family members said they only received R100k, which didn’t meet their needs.

Recently, Solly’s daughter Louisa Molokoane trended when she posted a video in which she’s seen going on a shopping spree at Gucci and Louis Vuitton stores.

After a lot of people complained about her spending money at luxurious shops, she decided to address the matter on her Instagram account.

In a post, Louisa wrote: “I dare you to show me proof of payment of the donation money I ate. What you don’t know is, this was an advance we have to pay because it was just one person who helped us with that.”

She said people are commenting on something they don’t understand.

“All we were trying to say was help out when someone is in need, it’s humane, and if you can’t, it’s understandable, it wasn’t a force (sic). Papa helped so many people, it was in his blood.”

“He did a lot giving back. Some of you suggesting public hospital because it’s free. Others don’t know public hospitals aren’t free,” she said.

She said some people said his dad already passed while he was fighting.

“There are battles we had to face; some you guys don’t know behind the scenes. If I were to talk, it can take the whole day. Having a loved one in hospital is heartbreaking,” she said.

Louisa said there was no need for assumption and mean opinions.

“We never said anyone owed us either. I don’t know where you get that from. It’s heartbreaking how you can twist a situation you know nothing about. The fact that I had to address this is hurtful.

“And no, it’s no policy money either. Remember him with his smile, funny laugh, mkhukhu dance, and a humble soul. May your soul rest in peace, papa,” Louisa said.
