Somizi criticizes South African Airways’ business class offering
Somizi Mhlongo called out South African Airways on social media, expressing his disappointment with their business class service.
Somizi Mhlongo, known for his larger-than-life personality, recently took to social media to criticize South African Airways (SAA).
In an Instagram post, he shared his frustrations about the airline’s business class offering. The post quickly caught the attention of his followers and fellow celebrities, sparking a lively debate.
A DISAPPOINTING BUSINESS CLASS EXPERIENCE
In his Instagram post, Somizi shared a photo of his business class seat. He pointed out that the seats looked nearly identical to the ones found in economy class despite the significantly higher price tag for business class. His caption read: “So this is business class. Seats are the same size as in economy class. But double the price. Pls make it make sense, my dearest @flysaa, coz I really wanna support you.”
Somizi’s post reflected the disappointment many passengers feel when they pay a premium for a service that doesn’t meet expectations. While business class is often marketed as an upgrade with better amenities, this may not always be the case, especially for domestic flights, IOL reported.

THE HIGH COST OF BUSINESS CLASS
Many frequent flyers are familiar with the fact that domestic business class tickets often don’t live up to the luxury and comfort offered on international flights.
Somizi’s critique is not an isolated complaint. Many passengers argue that while international business class flights often provide a comfortable, premium experience, domestic offerings sometimes fail to justify the higher price.
SUPPORT FROM FELLOW CELEBRITIES
According to OKMzansi, Somizi’s post resonated with several celebrities and social media users who shared similar frustrations. Actor @bohangmoeko commented, “This is how the airlines make most their money on domestic flights. Business class and ‘Premium’ economy tickets. They make you pay so much more but the value you get is not worth it.”
TV presenter @andilencube also weighed in, noting, “They leave the middle seat open so you don’t have to share with 2 other people but just 1, and allow you in 1st and off 1st.”
Multi-award-winning activist @yayarsa chimed in with their own humorous take: “Lol! They really are funny, just because they gonna serve you Johnny Walker and have a curtain separate you from business class they think YES! No man. I believe in @lift_sa EVERYDAY!”
NO STRANGER TO PUBLICITY
Earlier in the year, Somizi and his friend, MaMkize, flaunted their luxury luggage collection, each worth a pretty penny.
Best known for their love of luxury brands, Somizi and MaMkhize often trend for showcasing their most extravagant designer items. The two set social media abuzz after flaunting Louis Vuitton bags with jaw-dropping price tags. As reported in YouthVillage, they were later dragged for flaunting their opulence on such a public platform.
Their illustrious careers have made them some of South Africa’s most-followed stars. Beyond their fame, they’ve spent millions on designer clothes and accessories to complement their opulent lifestyles.
