‘Let’s welcome our newest addition’: Former Orlando Pirates soccer player Thembinkosi Lorch was officially welcomed by Mamelodi Sundowns.

Mamelodi Sundowns have announced Thembinkosi Lorch as one of their new players as seen in an Instagram post shared on Saturday, 27 January – several soccer fans celebrated the club’s recent announcement.

In a statement shared late on Friday night, the Soweto giants announced that Thembinkosi Lorch would leave Orlando Pirates IOL reported. “Thembinkosi Lorch is to leave Orlando Pirates Football Club after a discussion between the Chairman Dr. Irvin Khoza and the Mamelodi Sundowns hierarchy,” the statement by the Soweto giants was quoted.

Taking to Instagram on Saturday morning, the Sundowns team announced that Lorch had officially joined their team: “Former South African Player of the Season Thembinkosi Lorch joins Masandawana! 🙌 Let’s welcome our newest addition 🟡”.

The 30-year-old former Orlando Pirates star player was signed on Friday night, Sunday World reported. He joins the star-studded Sundowns side after also recently signing Argentinian star Matias Esquivel and defender Zuko Mdunyelwa.

According to the publication, Lorch, a former Premier Soccer League (PSL) Player of the Season has made little contribution in the Pirates team as of recently. His downfall was blamed on several factors including injuries and some problems off the field.
