TOYA DELAZY PUTS ZUMA ON BLAST

In a tweet posted on Saturday, 7 June, Toya DeLazy called out Jacob Zuma over his views concerning the LGBTQ community.

She tweeted: “Zuma is a disgrace. We just forgave him because Ubuntu has no borders. To call lesbians and gays a disgrace is an attack. Rape is a disgrace, using public funds for your own benefit is a disgrace”.

ZUMA IS A DISGRACE. WE JUST FORGAVE HIM BECAUSE UBUNTU HAS NO BORDERS. TO CALL LESBIANS and GAY A DISGRACE IS A ATTACK. RAPE IS A DISGRACE, USING PUBLIC FUNDS FOR YOUR OWN BENEFIT IS A DISGRACE. NOT PEOPLE LIVING IN THIER PURPOSE, TRUTH AND NATURE. INKONKONI WON’T BE ERASED.

The singer is referring to Zuma’s controversial comments to MK Party supporters about the LGBTQ community.

In February, Zuma told a crowd of supporters in Maqongqo, outside Pietermaritzburg: “Where does the law that a man can be in a romantic relationship with another man come from? What will women be left with?”.

He added, “It’s a disgrace.”

A month earlier, Zuma told supporters that he would “reverse same-sex marriages” when he is elected into power.

The shocking comments echo Zuma’s 2006 sentiments when he claimed that same-sex marriage is a “disgrace to the nation and to God”.

He also infamously stated: “When I was growing up, unqingili [a ‘homosexual’] could not stand in front of me. I would have knocked him out.”

DUDUZANE PRAISED OVER LGBTQ STANCE

Unlike his father, Jacob Zuma, Duduzane Zuma has been praised for his support of the LGBTQ community.

Although his party, All Game Changers, was excluded from general elections due to a lack of compliance, the 42-year-old has vowed to prioritise communities at risk.

According to MambaOnline, Duduzane has promised to “empower and protect women and children who are the most affected by gender-based violence, while still empowering males to behave respectably, making the protection of our women and children a priority. This extends to the LGBTQI+ community, ensuring all rights of identity are protected”.
