WATCH: Lucas Radebe on his quest to become the Safa president ‘one day’

‘There are a lot of people that I’m talking to’: Lucas Radebe got candid about his aspirations to become the next Safa president.

Soccer legend Lucas Radebe is on his quest to fulfil his dream of serving as the president of the SA Football Association (Safa) one day, Sunday World reported.

LUCAS RADEBE IS WORKING TOWRADS BECOMING THE SAFA PRESIDENT

The 54-year-old former Bafana Bafana and Leeds United legend has once again opened up about his presidential ambitions, according to the the publication.

Speaking to the media at the No Lays No Game UEFA Champions League event at the Discovery Park Soccer Club on Tuesday, Lucas Radebe was quoted as saying:  “I  am equipping myself and there are a lot of people that I’m talking to that are helping me with the right and relevant information. That will assist me to be ready one day.”

In November last year, TshisaLIVE reported that Safa had responded to reports that the former Bafana Bafana captain wants to become its president. In a statement released on behalf of Safa’s membership and national executive committees, a number of points were highlighted including the the three below…

Any person who hopes to be a president must be nominated by any of the constituent groups and must pass the integrity test. We are not just voting for the president.
It must be noted that the Safa election was held in 2022 for a period of four years, making the next election due in 2026.
It needs to be noted that, unlike the US election, Safa elections do not have a vote for president only. The election is for president, national and provincial members [and] all NEC positions.
