In February this year the South African Police Services revealed that they had arrested seven men in connection with the rapper’s killing. AKA, who was Anele’s fiancé, was gunned down in Durban on 10 February 2023. His death came less than two years after Anele fell to her death from the 10th floor of the Pepperclub Hotel on Loop Street in Cape Town on 11 April 2021.

‘THE POLICE HAVE NEVER APPROACHED ME’

Tembe – who is a respected chairman and director of a number of businesses in the retail, manufacturing, property, tourism, shipping and marine industries – told SABC News during an interview that police had not contacted him in connection with AKA’s murder.

“[The] police, no doubt it about, we all have been reading about this case. [The] police have investigated this matter. They’ve never approached me and I’m not surprised,” Tembe said.

“But I have no doubt that they have investigated this matter thoroughly,” he added.

MOSES TEMBE HOPES AKA’S FAMILY GETS CLOSURE THROUGH HIS MURDER CASE

Since the musician’s death, various conspiracies have been made by fans, including claims that Tembe was behind the elaborate assassination plot.

Addressing tthe allegations, Tembe said that they are baseless and made by “faceless” people on social media.

“I have been saying to our family, we can choose to comment on what faceless people have been saying or keep trusting the legal system of this country that they will come to the conclusion that will give the Forbes family closure.”

MOSES TEMBE ON CLAIMS HE ORDERED HIT ON AKA

Tembe further denounced allegations he is involved in AKA’s murder, stating that none of the faceless people making the claims know his family.

This is not the first time that the 61-year-old has rubbished these claims. In a statement in February 2023; Tembe labelled the claims “untrue and without substance.”

“It is with grave concern that my family and I have had to endure a flurry of posts on various social media platforms that accuse me, and members of my family, of being involved in the death of Kiernan Forbes. These accusations are untrue and without substance.”

In another statement, he said: “I categorically state that my family feel the pain of the Forbes family and would never be involved in an abhorrent act of this nature.

“While I value the principle of freedom of speech, these cruel and libellous utterances inflict personal and emotional harm on us. After having to deal with the tragedy of the untimely passing of our daughter, this senseless crime has taken a further emotional toll on us. I respectfully request the individuals making these baseless statements to refrain from doing so.”
