WATCH: Why soccer legend Neil Tovey joined ‘Uzalo’

Former Bafana Bafana and Kaizer Chiefs captain Neil Tovey has secured a role in SABC1’s most-watched TV show, ‘Uzalo’.

Soccer legend and former Bafana Bafana captain Neil Tovey made an appearance in Uzalo this week.

NEIL TOVEY: COACHING ROLE

The Africa Cup of Nations winning captain Neil Tovey landed a cameo role on Uzalo on Thursday, 17 April episode.

In the episode, Njinji Magwaza played by Thembi Nyandeni and Mamlambo portrayed by Gugu Gumede hired Tovey to coach KwaMashu community football team.

Tovey joins a list of South African stars, such as Mamkhize and late actor Patrick Shai who landed cameo roles on the SABC1 soapie.

Shai landed a cameo role on Uzalo in October 2021 as a motivational speaker to discuss the abuse storyline of Njeza (Nkanyiso Makhanya) and Nosipho (Nompilo Maphumulo).

While Mamkhize played the role of a mysterious, wealthy woman with her eye on the coveted KwaMashu Kingdom Church.

The reality TV star, real name Shauwn Mkhize told TshisaLIVE in March 2021 that her role wasn’t too different from who she is.

ACTORS WHO EXITED ‘UZALO’ SEASON TEN

Neil Tovey makes a cameo role after the departures of Nkanyiso Mchunu and Wiseman Mncube who portrayed best friends, Sibonelo and Wizard in Uzalo.

IOL confirms that the actors will not be part of season ten of the SABC1 soapie, Uzalo.

The publication adds that Stained Glass Production have thanked the actors for their contribution to the show in a statement:

“We’ve had the privilege of witnessing Wiseman Mncube and Nkanyiso Mchunu’s incredible journey on Uzalo.

“Their commitment to their craft, their ability to breathe life into their characters, and the chemistry they brought to the screen have enriched our show in ways words can’t express,” said series producer King David Mukwevho.”

Mzansi Magic also confirmed that Mncube and Mchunu have secured roles on My Brother’s Keeper, which replaced the award-winning telenovela Gomora.
