Sydney Mfundo Gcaba was named at the Durban Magistrates Court on Wednesday during the ongoing murder case of Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane.


Power 98.7 reported that in court yesterday, the Prosecution alleged that the estimated R800k that was paid into accused number four, Mziwethemba Gwbanei’s bank account allegedly came from Sydney Mfundo Gcaba. According to the publication, the estimated R800k sent to Mziwethemba Gwabeni’s account was paid via the business bank account of Bright Circle Pty Ltd, a company Sydney Mfundo Gcaba is the sole director of.

Lindani Ndimande, 35, Lindokuhle Ndimande, 29, Siyanda Myeza, 21, and Lindokuhle Mkhwanazi, 30, are four of the other suspects accused in AKA and Tibz’s murder case.

The suspects are facing several charges including two counts of murder, attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, possession of unlawful firearms and possession of unlawful ammunition.

Former South African president Jacob Zuma is also allegedly linked to the Gcaba family and reported to be the uncle of Sydney Mfundo Gcaba, EWN reported.

Speaking about his relationship with the former president, IOL quoted Mandla Gcaba as saying, “We are relatives of the Zuma family and we support Msholozi fully in every way we can support him that is necessary to his household, to him personally and his family.”
