💔 Family Devastated as Young E-Hailing Driver Killed Just Days Into New Job
The family of 27-year-old Siyanda Mthokozisi Mvelase is reeling in shock and grief after his life was brutally cut short in Johannesburg — just two days after starting work as an e-hailing driver.
Siyanda’s aunt, Zanele Khuzwayo, shared that her nephew had recently moved from KwaZulu-Natal to Johannesburg in search of a better future. Filled with hope, he had purchased a car just two weeks ago, a symbol of his fresh start. On Monday, he began working as an Uber driver, eager to build a stable life. By Wednesday, he was gone.
According to the family, Siyanda was attacked in an incident that has left them shattered. Details surrounding the circumstances of his killing are still under investigation, but his relatives are calling for swift justice.
“We are heartbroken. Siyanda had just started this new chapter of his life — and it was stolen from him. We want answers, and we want justice,” said Khuzwayo.
Friends and family remember Siyanda as a humble, hardworking young man who was determined to make something of himself. His death has sparked outrage within the community and renewed conversations about the safety of e-hailing drivers across South Africa.
The Mvelase family is now focused on bringing Siyanda’s remains home to KwaZulu-Natal for burial, a painful journey they never imagined they would have to make so soon.
🕊️ Rest in peace, Siyanda.
