The family of a 27-year-old e-hailing cab driver, who was tragically killed in a horrific arson attack at Maponya Mall in Soweto, is pleading for public assistance to bring his remains home.

According to relatives, the young man’s life was cut short in the most brutal way, leaving them devastated and struggling to cope with the loss. In the aftermath of the fire, authorities were only able to recoverΒ one bone, as the rest of his body was reduced to ashes.

The grieving family says they have no financial means to fetch his remains from Johannesburg or to give him a dignified burial.

β€œThis is the most painful thing we’ve ever faced,” a family spokesperson said. β€œWe just want to lay him to rest with dignity, but we can’t do it alone.”
