Actress Phumeza Shoba Seeks Divorce From Mnqobi After 11-Year Marriage Amid Cheating and Abuse Claims

The marriage of celebrated actress Phumeza Shoba and house music star Mnqobi Shoba appears to be collapsing after more than a decade together.
Claims of infidelity and abuse have since surfaced.
A Marriage in Crisis
According to the Sunday World, insiders close to the couple say Phumeza has decided to walk away from the 11-year marriage after accusing Mnqobi of cheating and subjecting her to emotional and psychological distress. According to those familiar with the situation, she asked her legal team in July to begin divorce proceedings.
“Phumeza said Mnqobi cheated on her, and that was the last straw that broke the camel’s back. She tried to forgive him but she found it impossible because he had betrayed her trust. You see, when you cheat, other women can forgive you, but Phumeza is unfortunately not one of those,” a source revealed.
Attempts at Amicable Separation Fail
The sources allege that Phumeza initially tried to part ways amicably without involving lawyers, but her efforts were unsuccessful. This, they say, pushed her to pursue a more formal route through the courts.
“They differed a lot about how a marriage should exist. They also could not meaningfully or constructively engage in a conversation about it,” another source explained.
Disputed Assets and Demands
Reports suggest that Phumeza wants an equal share of their jointly accumulated assets, which include luxury vehicles such as a Porsche and a Volvo SUV. She is also said to be seeking R45,000 in monthly spousal maintenance and R5,000 for the care of their partially blind child.
Living Arrangements Remain Unclear
Although Mnqobi spends part of the year outside South Africa, the pair are still believed to be sharing a home. Those close to them fear that the ongoing tensions could intensify when he returns.
“We just hope that it does not get messy because they still live together even though Mnqobi is currently out of the country. He leaves the country between April and October every year, and we hope that when he returns they will find each other and resolve their differences,” said one insider.
