AfriForum says the Bergview College principal is innocent
Lobby group AfriForum says it is not possible for the principal of Bergview College to have been involved in the rape of seven-year-old Cwecwe that allegedly took place on school premises in October last year.
This as the matter drew widespread condemnation over how it was handled.
The school’s principal has also sparked outrage, for allegedly refusing to provide DNA samples for testing, to rule him out as the perpetrator of the alleged crime.

AfriForum’s Private Prosecution Unit spokesperson Barry Bateman says, “Bergview College has three campuses, there is a junior phase- 1-3 grades; there is a senior junior grade (if you want to call it that) – which is 4-7; and then there’s the high school and all three of these are on different campuses.”
“Mr Pieterse is based at the main campus, the little girl who was raped – is based at the grade 1-3- campus, and that’s where she was picked up on the afternoon.”
“So, he was two- kilometres away, not just that afternoon when the child was picked up, but throughout the day.”
“There was no contact whatsoever, nor was he at the location where this child was picked up, and where it was alleged that the rape took place,” adds Bateman.
