BREAKING NEWS: Woman Arrested for Selling Human Placentas in Lydenburg
A 39-year-old woman, identified as Rose Mnisi, has been arrested in Lydenburg (Mashishing) after she was allegedly found selling human tissues (placentas).

According to police reports, the suspect — a hospital cleaner in the maternity ward — was caught during a routine patrol by the Lydenburg K9 Unit on Wednesday, 17 September 2025. Officers acted on a tip-off that she was seeking potential buyers and intercepted her along Voortrekker Street carrying a plastic bag containing the human tissues.
The contents were confiscated for forensic analysis, and the woman has been charged with illegal possession of human tissues. Police say more charges may follow as investigations continue.
Mnisi appeared at the Mashishing District Court today, Thursday 18 September 2025. She remains in custody, and the case has been postponed to 25 September for further investigation and a bail hearing.
