“Breaking: Zulu Regent Queen Shiyiwe Mantfombi Dlamini Zulu Dies Unexpectedly”
KING Misuzulu and the Zulu royal house are mourning the passing of a senior queen.

Queen Thoko Ntombela Zulu (87), who was the wife of Prince Mcwayizeni Zulu, passed away at Inkosi Albert Luthuli Hospital in Durban on Friday, 27 June after a short illness.
Prince Mcwayizeni was regent between 1968 and 1971 before King Zwelithini ascended to the throne.
Queen Ntombela, who was popularly known as Ndlunkulu Ntombela, was one of two senior queens alongside Queen Mavis “Gwabini” Zungu, who is the widow of the late King Bhekuzulu.
She, as well as other senior royal members such a the late Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, Queen Mavis Zungu and Prince Philemon Zulu, played a big role in the support for King Misuzulu to remain on the throne.
King Misuzulu’s spokesman Prince Thulani Zulu confirmed Queen Ntombela’s passing to Daily Sun.
“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of uNdlunkulu Thoko Gladys Zulu, an esteemed member of the royal family.
“Ndlunkulu was the wife of the late Prince Mcwayizeni kaSolomon of Nxangiphilile Royal Palace. Prince Mcwayizeni became the regent in 1968 after the passing on of King Bhekuzulu,” he said.
Prince Thulani said Ndlunkulu Ntombela was a cherished figure whose dedication, grace and service have left an indelible mark on the royal family and the nation.
