Chymamusique is fighting to recover after brain surgery

South Africans are sending prayers and love to Deep House DJ and producer Chymamusique, who is currently recovering after undergoing emergency brain surgery following a tragic accident that claimed five lives — including fellow artist DJ Poizen.

Chymamusique, whose real name is Collen Mmotla, revealed on social media that his speech, brain, and body are still not okay, but he is grateful to be alive. Doctors had to open his skull to save his life after the accident.

“I’m still not okay. My brain, speech, and body are still recovering,” he shared. “I need about two to three weeks to rest and heal properly.”

🙏 Focused on Healing

Right now, Chymamusique says he cannot take calls or do interviews as he focuses entirely on recovery and rest. He has asked fans to give him space and understanding during this difficult time.

Friends, fans, and fellow musicians across Mzansi have flooded social media with messages of love, encouragement, and prayers for his full recovery.

💔 A Reminder About Life

The tragedy is a stark reminder that life can change in an instant. One moment on stage, the next in hospital — yet Chymamusique continues to show strength, humility, and gratitude through his pain.

“Life is fragile,” one fan wrote. “We thank God he’s still here. Prayers up for Chyma.”

Let’s all keep Chymamusique in our thoughts and prayers as he heals, rebuilds, and finds his way back to music and life. 🕊️❤️
