“DJ Sumbody Didn’t Die by Mistake: Inside the Deadly Drug War That Took His Life”

Shockwaves have hit Mzansi again as new evidence emerges around the tragic death of beloved musician and businessman Oupa “DJ Sumbody” Sefoka. What was initially believed to be a random shooting is now linked to a multi-million rand drug war, betrayal, and an underworld power struggle.

On the night of 20 November 2022, DJ Sumbody had just finished performing at News Cafe in Woodmead when he and his two bodyguards were ambushed and killed in a brutal AK-47-style execution. The nation mourned, but questions remained unanswered — until now.

According to Sunday World, it all began when a massive drug consignment disappeared while in police custody in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN). That same consignment later resurfaced in Johannesburg nightclubs, sold at unusually low prices — a red flag that alerted its original owners: a feared underground cartel known as “The Big Five.”

In a tragic twist of fate, DJ Sumbody was reportedly caught in the middle of this conflict, trying to mediate peace during a meeting in Cape Town while expanding his Ayepyep Lifestyle Lounge brand. But once he was implicated, whether knowingly or not, his name was allegedly added to a deadly hit list.

Now, four suspects have been arrested, including well-known businessman Katiso “KT” Molefe, believed to be part of the wider drug network.

The shocking revelation has stirred fears in the entertainment industry, especially since other stars — such as DJ Citi Lyts, Heavy Pablo, and DJ Vintos — have also died in similar execution-style shootings, suspected to be tied to the same network.

💔 DJ Sumbody’s death wasn’t just a loss to the music scene — it was a wake-up call about how deep and dark the intersection between fame, crime, and greed can go.
