DJ Warras Murder Case: Alleged Killer’s Nationality Sparks Heated Social Media Debate

The murder case of popular South African media personality Warrick “DJ Warras” Stock has taken a new turn, not only in court but also on social media, where the nationality and background of the alleged killer have become a major point of contention. While the legal process unfolds, online discussions have shifted focus from the tragic loss of life to questions surrounding the origins of the man accused of carrying out the killing.

On Wednesday, 24 December 2025, Victor Mthethwa Majola appeared before the Johannesburg Central Magistrates Court. He faces charges of premeditated murder in connection with DJ Warras’ killing. The court appearance drew significant public interest, as DJ Warras was widely respected for his contribution to the entertainment and media industry. However, shortly after Majola’s identity was revealed, speculation about his nationality began circulating rapidly across social media platforms.

Many South Africans took to X (formerly Twitter) to debate whether the accused was a foreign national or a South African citizen. The discussion gained further momentum when journalist Sihle Mavuso weighed in, dismissing claims that Majola was a foreigner. In a post shared on his official X account, Mavuso alleged that the accused was South African and originated from Nquthu in northern KwaZulu-Natal—an area located close to DJ Warras’ hometown of Vryheid.

Mavuso suggested that the geographical proximity between the two men’s hometowns added a disturbing layer to the case. He claimed that, if true, the accused had effectively accepted an offer to kill someone from his own community. His remarks, which included the controversial phrase that the suspect had “killed his homeboy,” ignited an even fiercer debate online, with some users agreeing and others strongly rejecting his assertions.

Social media reactions were sharply divided. Some users echoed Mavuso’s claims, expressing shock and disappointment that someone from the same region could allegedly be involved in such a crime. Others accused the journalist of spreading misinformation, insisting that the surname and alleged background did not align with families from Nquthu. Several commentators questioned the credibility of the information, while some expressed broader mistrust toward law enforcement and the justice system, suggesting that key details were still being hidden from the public.

The debate also highlighted underlying social tensions, including ongoing discussions around crime, identity, and xenophobia in South Africa. For many users, the issue of nationality overshadowed the more pressing matter of justice for DJ Warras and accountability for those responsible for his death.

Meanwhile, public interest in the case continues to grow. Adding to the conversation, Chad Da Don’s mother, Norma Mansoor, reportedly reacted to the suspect’s body language during his court appearance. Her comments sparked further discussion, with some social media users questioning whether the man who appeared in court matched earlier descriptions of the suspect seen in circulated CCTV footage.

As investigations continue and the case progresses through the courts, authorities have yet to release comprehensive details that could put the nationality debate to rest. What remains clear is that DJ Warras’ death has left a deep wound in the entertainment industry and among his supporters. While social media speculation continues, many are calling for focus to return to the pursuit of truth, justice, and closure for the late DJ Warras’ family, friends, and fans.
