Evil thugs strip and kill off-duty cop

THE Hawks in Mpumalanga are in pursuit of gunmen who killed an off-duty police officer on Friday, 30 May.

Khulani Chabangu (29), who was a police constable, was gunned down while he was at a barbershop in Culcatta outside Hazyview.

According to provincial Hawks spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Magonseni Nkosi, two armed suspects stormed the barbershop and allegedly instructed the barber and the clients to lie down on their stomachs.

The victims were then robbed of their cellphones and money was also taken from the barber.

“The police official was forced to undress and his clothes, car keys, and cellphone were taken. Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim sustained several gunshot wounds on his upper body, after which he succumbed from these injuries,” he said.

Nkosi said the police officer’s vehicle was recovered within the vicinity. He further requested the public to assist with information that can lead to the arrest of the suspects.
