Gauteng police spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Mavela Masondo, confirmed that a theft from a motor vehicle case was opened, and an investigation is ongoing.

“Police can confirm that the victim parked his vehicle at a shopping mall in Soweto.”

“When he came back, he realised that his car window was broken and his belongings, including a cellphone, laptop, an iPad, and a tracksuit, were missing. No arrests have been made, yet,” Masondo said.

The 38-year-old recently transitioned into a coaching role at TS Galaxy after a severe injury forced him to retire from professional football.

The injury occurred during a Carling Knockout Cup match against Mamelodi Sundowns on 18 October 2023 when Parker suffered a broken shin due to a dangerous tackle by Sundowns’ Bongani Zungu.

A long-time fan favourite, the former Bafana Bafana forward is married to Wendy Parker. The couple has two kids.

After retirement from professional play, Parker was appointed as head coach of TS Galaxy, a DStv Diski Challenge team, at the end of the 2023/24 season.

Parker couldn’t be reached for a comment at the time of publishing.
