FAMILY demands justice after taxi boss gunned down.
The family of Lucky Siphuma (35) seeks justice after he was shot dead on Saturday, 10 May 2025 at Musina extension 2 in the Vhembe District, Limpopo.
Siphuma was shot and killed alongside his colleague, Ben Morudi (36).
The pair was certified dead on the scene.
According to police reports, Siphuma and Morudi were chilling at a liquor outlet when they were approached by unknown men who opened fire at them.
During the shooting, one of the victims returned fire with his firearm and one suspect was fatally shot while the other suspect managed to escape.
No arrests have been made.
Vhembe Police spokesman Warrant Officer Vuledzani Dathi said: “No one has been arrested.
Three cases of murder and one attempted murder have been opened and are being investigated,” she said.
Siphuma’s sister, Constance Siphuma, said they want justice for their brother.
“We want justice for him. He did not deserve to die in that brutal manner. He took care of everyone at home,” she said.
Constance said that they have more questions than answers as to why Siphuma was killed in cold blood.
“It’s difficult to understand why someone would want him dead,” she said.
Siphuma leaves behind three kids and a wife. At the time of his untimely death, he was serving as the deputy chairman of Lancefield Taxi Association.
Reacting to Siphuma’s death, his chairman Kaizer Phiri said their association is shaken by his killing.
“We are shocked. The whole association is shaken.”
Phiri said Siphuma was a true leader and had solutions for every problem.
The attack also sent shock waves across the Vhembe region where residents expressed dismay as they remembered Siphuma.
“Everyone was equal to him. He treated commuters with so much respect and kindness,” said Lufhuno Dzangi.
Siphuma was buried at Dzimauli Village on 17 May.
