Family Mourns Gospel Singer Isaac Setati, Aged 41

THE family of a gospel singer is in mourning.

Isaac Setati (41) from Tlamatlama Extension in Thembisa, Ekurhuleni, passed away on Friday, 4 July 2025 after a short illness.

His passing was announced through Facebook by Ingqayizivele Gospel Choir.

Isaac was recognised for his voice, spiritual guidance and impactful ministry through clap and tap gospel music. His passing has created a deep emptiness in the hearts of fans, fellow artists and believers across the country.

Speaking to Daily Sun, his wife and the mum of his four kids Boitumelo Mosomane Setati (38), said she was in great pain.

“My husband was not a sickly man. It was very rare for him to be sick. He was in good health. Before his passing we spoke over the phone. He mentioned that he was not feeling well. Later the hospital called and told me they were taking him to intensive care because he wasn’t getting better. I went to the hospital, and I was told that he passed away.

“I’m still shocked and in disbelieve about his death, so is the entire family. The music industry doesn’t have a consistent income, and we are not prepared financially, considering how well he was known. We are not sure how we will cover all the funeral costs,” she said.

Boitumelo said that she’s thankful for the support she and her entire family is receiving, from the community members and church members.

Amongst numerous tributes received, one of the most touching ones was from the legendary gospel group Barorisi Ba Morena. According to the family, the memorial service will be held on Thursday, 10 July and his funeral will be on Saturday, 12 July 2025, However, the venues have not been confirmed.
