Ga Re Dumele: Tributes Pour In for Meme Ditshego

GA RE Dumele, a Setswana phrase which means: “We don’t accept it,” echoes the heartbreak of a nation following the passing of veteran actress and comedian, Meme Ditshego.

On the other hand, the phrase also serves as the title of the hit SABC2 sitcom that catapulted Meme to national fame, where she played the unforgettable Josephine “Josie” Ratau.

It’s the role that earned her a Safta and made her a staple in Mzansi homes.

Meme passed away on Wednesday night, 25 June, at the age of 60 following a brief illness.

Her agency, Eye Media Artists, confirmed the sad news.

According to a source, Meme had complained of body pains the previous week and died at a local hospital. She was from Lethabile in Brits, North West.
