Ivan Twala, an internet user, is in trouble with the South African Police Service (SAPS) following his careless online comment regarding the Cwecwe case.
Internet user Ivan T Twala Stebu has found himself in hot water with the public and SAPS after making some questionable posts about the #JusticeforCwecwe movement that has had the nation at a standstill over the past week.

South Africans have collectively united across various social media platforms due to yet another case of Gender Based Violence (GBV) perpetrated against a young, seven-year-old Bergview College learner named Cwecwe, who was raped on school premises in October 2024.

This case has highlighted the rampant rape and GBV culture that is prominent in South Africa and has seen members of the public call out the enabling and protection of such animalistic behaviours, particularly towards young and defenseless children.
As social media users continue to bring light to the case and call for justice to be served, some individuals have taken it upon themselves to make questionable and problematic posts regarding the matter. Facebook user Ivan T Twala Stebu has come under the limelight as his post that read ” Ya Cwecwe ya gripa” which translates to ‘Cwecwe’s has grip’, alluding to the young learner’s private parts being tighter than an adult’s.

In response, the Department of Justice, Crime Prevention and Security issued a post revealing that the matter has been escalated to the South African Police Services (SAPS), but has deleted the post. Rather, the department replaced the original post with one that warns citizens about the dangers of making irresponsible and reckless posts regarding sensitive cases such as Cwecwe’s.
Social media users have called for the immediate arrest of such individuals, including Ivan Twala, who has had the masses calling for his head. These users believe that Ivan, and those who think similarly to him pose imminent threat to innocent citizens, and have urged the authorities to act swiftly in dealing with him.
