Thabiso Mosima, a public relations officer at Royal Funerals, said: “We had the family’s plea and came to their assistance.”

“We brought our most executive fleet. The death of Kgaugelo was not pleasant. We thought it’s best to bury her in a dignified way.”

Kgaugelo was allegedly stabbed to death by her ex-lover, a social media influencer, Lazarus Antonio (26), also known as Mfana Ngwenya from Carousel View.

North West Police spokeswoman Colonel Adéle Myburgh said: “Reports suggest that the lifeless body of Kgaugelo was found lying on the ground, with multiple stab wounds on Thursday, 21 August, at a tavern in Maubane Village.”

She said that Lazarus allegedly murdered his ex-girlfriend and attempted to kill his 20-year-old current girlfriend.

Myburgh said that Lazarus is facing murder charges and attempted murder.

Zakes Seema, the uncle of Kgaugelo, said: “I have never come across such brutality since I took part in gender-based violence. The worst part is I experienced it with my own niece.”

“Women are defenceless. You are a man, you beat up a woman, and a woman doesn’t fight, but you carry on with your stupidity.”

He further said that he has been against GBV.

“We are here burying my younger brother’s firstborn. Someone we even didn’t know his nationality came and took her away. We have to deal with this pain. My niece’s blood won’t be in vain,” he said.

Neighbour Annah Nqube said: “Kgaugelo was born in front of us and was a good kid. It’s painful the way she died. Please, family, accept. Only God knows.”

Tshwane ANC Women’s League member of REC, Regina, said: “Kids of 2000, please, whenever you are going out, please inform your parents. Please, when you call an Uber at night, be careful as it’s driven by Nigerians.”

Tshwane MMC for Roads and Transport, Tlangi Mogale, said: “The women of South Africa, their bodies are a crime scene for men who were not brought up properly, even worse for foreign nationals who have crept into our communities and can’t be accounted for where they come from.”

“We have allowed that as a community. We need to reclaim our communities and protect young lives.”

She said that they would follow this case.

SANCO Tshwane regional secretary Evelyn Matlaila said: “We are saying be comforted. We have also lost a kid. We condemn the brutal killing of Kgaugelo. This is a violation against human rights. Justice must prevail.”
