Don’t Give Up, produced by Videovision Entertainment, continues the impactful storytelling legacy Khumalo and Roodt started years ago with the Oscar-nominated film Yesterday. Their latest project impressed the international judges and stood out among productions from around the world, including those from top digital platforms.
The award ceremony was held at the beautiful Grimaldi Forum in Monaco, in a dazzling Blue Carpet event. The Monte-Carlo Television Festival is often seen as the “Oscars of European television,” highlighting top-quality global television and streaming content. Winning here is a major moment for any production team—and for South Africa, this was a proud win on the world stage.
In her acceptance speech, Leleti Khumalo warmly shared her gratitude: “Thank you to the 64th Monte-Carlo Television Festival. I’d like to thank the Videovision team and the director Darrell Roodt who came up with this amazing project. And I thank Anant for always believing in me and for always having faith in me. To the Prince and Princess, thank you for having us here in Monte Carlo, and I’d also like to thank my family for always supporting the work I do. Thank you so much, this is humbling.”
Leleti also took to Instagram to share the joy with her fans. “And just like that, WE WON! Savele sabuya nayo indondo… The Monte-Carlo Television Festival awarded us the Golden Nymph award in the ‘Special Creation’ category for the film Don’t Give Up.”
She continued, expressing love and thanks to her producer Anant Singh: “An absolute honour to have gone up and accepted this award with my producer, Anant Singh, someone who is always by my side in my career.”
She gave a heartfelt shoutout to director Darrell James Roodt as well: “Another huge thank you to our director, Darrell James Roodt. I’m forever grateful to work with you.”
Leleti didn’t forget to thank royalty either: “Thank you to Their Serene Highnesses Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco for so warmly welcoming and congratulating us in your beautiful country. I am truly humbled.”
And of course, she praised fashion designer Gert-Johan Coetzee for dressing her in style: “For making me look so stunning. The most perfect dress to go receive and accept the most perfect award. You outdid yourself. Thank you, thank you, thank you.”
