24-Year-Old Lwazi Sithole Stabbed to Death in Durban Over Joke
Durban, KwaZulu-Natal — Tragedy struck in Sydenham, Durban, as 24-year-old Lwazi Sithole was fatally stabbed with a screwdriver following a casual joke that went terribly wrong.

According to reports, Lwazi was walking with friends when they encountered two foreign men returning from work. In a light-hearted exchange, Lwazi jokingly asked the men when they were going back to their country. Witnesses say that one of the men suddenly pulled out a screwdriver and stabbed him.
Lwazi fell to the ground and bled to death before medical help could arrive, while the suspects fled the scene.
His family described him as a peaceful young man with big dreams, shocked that his life was ended in such a senseless act.
“Lwazi was not a violent person. He had big plans for his life. Now his life is gone just like that,” his family said.
Police have launched an investigation and are reviewing CCTV footage to help identify and apprehend the suspects. Authorities have urged anyone with information to come forward.
The tragic incident has left the local community in shock, highlighting the dangers of escalating minor confrontations into deadly violence.
“This world is getting too cold. A life lost over a joke,” mourners expressed.
