Issues involve her football club, Royal AM.

The flamboyant star, who is known for her larger-than-life lifestyle and love for the beautiful game, recently confirmed that a prominent figure and his son were interested in buying the soccer club, but the offer was turned down.

“Yes, it’s true. They did make an offer for Royal AM. I think it was around R35 million or R40 million. I can’t really remember the exact figure, but the offer was rejected. I was sad because, honestly, it would’ve been better for me to gain something financially than end up with nothing,” she said on the Robert Marawa Show on 947.

Mam’Mkhize clarified that she had no say in whether the deal went through, or not.

“It wasn’t even my decision to make. My dad was involved in all of that. I wish I had a say because, financially, it could have helped. But the club was never officially for sale, which made the whole situation complicated,” she said.

The Durban-born mogul, who first stole Mzansi’s hearts through her hit reality show Kwa Mam’Mkhize, went on to explain that the court-appointed curator was never meant to strip her off the club, only to safeguard it.

“People keep saying Sars took over Royal AM, that’s not true. The court said the curator must preserve the asset, not take it. The idea was to protect the club, not hand it over or liquidate it.”

However, the reality on the ground was different.

Mam’Mkhize claims the person appointed to oversee the club didn’t understand football or its value.

“The person didn’t understand the business of soccer. The team wasn’t even allowed to play. I begged. I tried everything to keep the team active. But at some point, I had to accept that we couldn’t find common ground.”

She said that’s when she decided it was time to let go.

“If we kept fighting, the club would have been destroyed. So, I made the difficult decision to sell.”

Mam’Mkhize made headlines when she took over Bloemfontein Celtic’s PSL status in 2021 and rebranded the team as Royal AM.

Since then, the club has had a rollercoaster ride, with moments of brilliance and drama both on and off the pitch.
