THE body of the missing student Olerato Mongale (30) has been found dumped in Lombardy West, Joburg.

This shocked residents who found her bruised body in less than two hours at about 4.50pm on Monday afternoon.

Police were assisted by community members.

Her family said she was last seen on 25 May 2025. CCTV footage showed her getting picked up by a white VW Polo at her place going on a date with her alleged killer.

National police spokeswoman Brigadier Athlenda Mathe said: “During investigations it was discovered that the VW Polo was fitted with a fake registration number plate LT 57 JG GP. The man fetched Mongale at her residential place complex in Athol, Johannesburg on Monday and allegedly murdered her and dumped her body.”

Mathe said some of the victim’s belongings, including a cellphone and a handbag, were found abandoned on 9th Road in Kew, Joburg.
