Missing Teen Kamogelo (19) Found Alive — Family Rejoices! 

COPS make breakthrough in kidnapping case.

Kamogelo Baukudi (19) was allegedly kidnapped by two men impersonating cops.

Fortunately, the grade 11 Martie du Plessis School pupil was found alive at Wepener, Free State in the early hours of Friday, 27 June following a coordinated rescue operation.

Police spokesman, Brigadier Motansi Makhele said: “During the intelligence driven operation, five men aged between 20 and 29 were arrested. Three suspects were apprehended at a house in Kanana location in Wepener, while two others were caught on the road in Kwetla kasi and town with the victim.

“This brings the total number of arrests to six. The first suspect, a 42-year-old police sergeant, who was previously arrested, appeared in court charged with kidnapping and extortion.”

Kamogelo was abducted in Verneeniging Drive in Bloemfontein on 5 June on his way home from school.

His mysterious disappearance triggered widespread concern and led to the establishment of a multidisciplinary task team.

Free State Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane commended the hard work by the investigating team.

“The safe recovery of young Kamogelo is a moment of great relief for the family, the community and all of us. I commend our members for their unwavering efforts, who worked tirelessly following up every lead under serious public scrutiny. We will ensure justice is served,” she said.

The suspects face charges of kidnapping and extortion and are expected to appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrates Court on Monday, 30 June alongside police sergeant.
