Mother’s Day: Mums celebrated in style ekasi
WOMEN from Extension 8 in Vosloorus, Ekurhuleni, received VIP treatment.
The Mother’s Day event was organised by Ike Shisanyama management on Thursday, 8 May.
Business owner, Isaac Mosiekeng, said the event was aimed at celebrating contributions made by mothers.

“Mothers are important figures in society. I lost my mum, Meisie Mosieleng, three years ago. But the support I receive from mothers in my area has been wonderful. They treat me like one of their sons and still give me that motherly love. This shows that even if my mum is gone, they care about me,” said Isaac.
He said the old adage that goes, it takes a village to raise a child, is still relevant in his area.
“One of the mothers in the area once bought me school shoes. I remember vividly, I was in need because my parents didn’t have money to buy me school shoes and today, here I am giving back to the community. This shows that a helping hand goes a long way, and the event is one of the gestures to thank mothers and spoil them ahead of Mother’s Day on Sunday, 11 May,” he said.
Isaac’s brother Pheelo Mosieleng said mothers play a key role in children’s upbringing.
“It’s wonderful to have mothers who not only show love to their families but also their neighbours’ children. Today, we organised a dinner for mothers to enjoy the day by offering a buffet and drinks to show them we appreciate their love and caring,” said Pheelo.
Meisie Moloi said they appreciate the gesture shown by the Mosieleng family.
“This event will restore Ubuntu. We need such appreciation, especially as mothers, from the youth. We saw Isaac and Pheelo grow up before our own eyes, now they are adults and still remember where they come from by hosting this event for mothers,” said Meisie.
Mosadi Malepa said: “We are happy to see Mosieleng brothers united and understanding the importance of mothers. Although their mother had passed away and were supposed to enjoy the fruits of their labour, these young men decided to organise the event for mothers in the area.”
Andro Motsemme said: “I’m so grateful to be here and celebrate with other mothers. Everyone needs to be loved and pampered, and this was a well-spent evening.”
Thembi Masokotso said: “I feel so motivated to be with other mothers. This will also strengthen relationships with neighbours to ensure we support each other through thick and thin.”
Eunice Matenchi said celebrating Mother’s Day with other women was the best outing ever.
“You need to be pampered and shown love by your kids. It’s nice that our sacrifices and unwavering love have not gone unnoticed. That’s what makes mothers fulfilled,” said Eunice.
