Musa Khawula’s Health Deteriorates in Prison as Support Campaign Falls Short
Musa Khawula’s Health Worsens in Prison as “Free Musa” Campaign Struggles

Controversial celebrity blogger Musa Khawula is reportedly in poor health as he remains locked up at Sun City Prison. The 33-year-old, known for his no-holds-barred commentary on social media, has been in custody since January 2025 while facing a string of legal battles.

According to sources close to him, Khawula is struggling to cope and now depends heavily on friends for basic supplies such as food, toiletries, and medication. They described him as a shadow of his former self—withdrawn, frail, and visibly weaker than the outspoken personality his followers once knew.
Khawula faces several charges, including crimen injuria, hate speech, violations of the Cybercrimes Act, and a separate attempted murder case dating back to 2021. His bail applications have either been denied or postponed, with new evidence said to be complicating the investigations.
“Free Musa” Campaign Falters
Supporters launched a “Free Musa” campaign to assist him, even selling branded T-shirts to raise funds. However, the initiative has largely failed to cover his legal costs or daily needs. A crowdfunding effort on BackaBuddy aimed at raising R50,000 has so far collected less than R2,000, highlighting the difficulty in rallying widespread financial backing. Friends have since stepped in to send food and medication to help him get by in prison.
On social media, his situation has divided opinion. Some admirers insist that Khawula’s boldness in calling out celebrities should not be silenced, while others argue he is facing the consequences of years of defamatory and harmful posts. Big names like Lerato Kganyago and Cassper Nyovest have openly criticised him, pointing to the damage his gossip-driven platform caused.
Despite this, his supporters continue to push for better treatment and a fair trial, saying the blogger deserves humane conditions while awaiting the outcome of his cases.
