Nolwazi Shange to Appear in Court Over Fraud and Cybercrime Charges

South African actress Nolwazi Shange is set to appear in the Brixton Magistrates Court in Johannesburg on 23 May following serious allegations of fraud and cybercrime.

Fraud Allegations on Queen Modjadji Set

Shange, known for her roles in various television productions, allegedly stole close to R700,000 while working as a casting manager for the show Queen Modjadji in 2024. The production company behind the show, Rhythm World, filed charges against her after uncovering financial irregularities.

According to insider sources, Shange was responsible for recruiting agencies that provided extras for the production. Once these agencies had delivered their services, they submitted invoices for payment. However, she allegedly manipulated the payment process by changing invoice amounts and bank details, redirecting the funds to an unknown company linked to her.

Production staff and agencies later discovered the discrepancies when agencies began demanding payments that they had never received. This prompted Rhythm World to launch an investigation, ultimately leading to the charges against Shange.

Shange’s Denial and Legal Proceedings

When questioned about the allegations at the time, Shange denied any involvement, stating, “I don’t know about it. My contract with Queen Modjadji ended about three months ago, so I don’t know.”
