Nomsa Buthelezi Opens Up About Pain, Discrimination, and Finding Strength
Award-winning actress and TV presenter Nomsa Buthelezi has opened up about the pain and discrimination she faced in the entertainment industry — from being body-shamed to being judged for her sexuality.

Nomsa revealed that she was often shamed for her weight and looked down upon for being a lesbian, with some people claiming she didn’t “look like others” who deserve leading roles.
“They said I didn’t fit the image,” she shared. “I had to work twice as hard to prove that my talent is enough — that I deserve to be here.”
💔 Judged, Betrayed, and Isolated
Nomsa also said she lost acting jobs because of her sexuality. Some people she once trusted allegedly turned against her, spreading lies and trying to destroy her name.
“Nobody checked on me. I cried alone and kept going,” she said.
Despite the rejection and pain, Nomsa says she refused to give up.
💪 Standing Strong and Proud
Today, Nomsa stands tall — confident in who she is and proud of her journey. She says she draws strength from her faith, her partner, and the love she’s built for herself.
“I know my worth, and I know that God still fights for me,” she said.
Nomsa married her partner in 2019, and the two remain happily together. She says that her peace, her love, and her life are things she has fought hard to earn.
✨ A Message of Hope
Nomsa says she shares her story to inspire others who are facing discrimination or self-doubt:
“Don’t lose hope. Don’t let the world tell you you’re not enough. You are worthy, you are beautiful, and your story matters.”
Her courage and authenticity continue to make her a voice of hope for many across South Africa.
