POPULAR TikToker Sqiniseko Mvelase has been shot dead live on TikTok.
Sqiniseko (27) from KwaMaphumulo, KZN who was popular on TikTok as a self-proclaimed maskandi music analyst, was gunned down on Thursday, 29 May at Nigel in Ekurhuleni.
He was allegedly gunned down while he was live on his TikTok page discussing maskandi matters with other maskandi lovers.
He is the second TikToker to be gunned down after Dubula Mbatha was killed in 2024.
His death shocked many TikTokers and left them asking themselves about what happened to him. It’s not clear what was the motive behind his shooting, but his analysis normally angered many maskandi fans who often accused him of taking sides in maskandi rivalries.
On Friday, 30 May, Thabang said they were busy taking Sqiniseko’s body from the government mortuary to a private mortuary in preparation for his funeral.
Another of Sqiniseko’s friends, Skhova Mhlongo, also confirmed that Sqiniseko was shot dead on Thursday, 29 May.
Gauteng police spokeswoman, Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi said the police in Dunnator are investigating a case of murder after a 27-year-old man was shot dead on Thursday.
“It is reported that the victim was sitting in his yard when he was accosted by an unknown suspect who shot him multiple times before fleeing the scene.
“The motive for the attack is unknown as this stage and police investigations are underway. The deceased is said to have been a maskandi music reviewer on TikTok,” she said.
