Pretoria Home Linked to Presley Chweneyagae Frozen in NLC Corruption Case
The Special Investigating Unit (SIU) has obtained a preservation order to freeze a residential property in Hesteapark, Pretoria, linked to the late award-winning actor Presley Chweneyagae, his family, and several other parties implicated in a National Lotteries Commission (NLC) corruption case.
The order was granted by the Special Tribunal on 18 December 2025 and prevents the property from being sold, rented, transferred, or used as collateral while investigations and legal proceedings continue.
According to the SIU, the order applies to Charlaine Christinah Chweneyagae, Presley Chweneyagae’s wife, both in her personal capacity and in her role as the executor of his estate. It also includes Alfred Muzwakhe Sigudla, the Southern African Youth Movement NPO, Domestic Baboon (Pty) Ltd, and other related parties.
The SIU alleges that the house was purchased using approximately R889,000 that originated from a R15 million NLC grant. The grant was reportedly intended to fund youth arts development programmes, but investigators believe a portion of the money was unlawfully diverted.
The SIU has emphasized that the preservation order is a precautionary measure aimed at safeguarding assets while the matter is before the tribunal. The investigation into the alleged misuse of NLC funds is ongoing.
