Over 2,000 young leaders from more than 190 countries are set to gather in Munich, Germany, from 3 to 6 November 2025, for the One Young World Summit — an event that brings together passionate changemakers working to tackle some of the world’s biggest challenges.

Among the inspiring voices attending this global gathering is South Africa’s very own Shudufhadzo “Shudu” Musida, who continues to shine as a mental health advocate, author, and humanitarian leader.

The announcement of her participation was met with excitement and pride. The official statement read:

“Shudufhadzo ‘Shudu’ Musida is joining the One Young World Summit Munich 2025! An author, model, and passionate mental health advocate, Shudu’s journey is rooted in compassion, purpose, and a lifelong commitment to uplifting others.

Crowned Miss South Africa 2020, she transformed her title into a platform for meaningful change, championing mental health, sustainable development, and education as pathways to empowerment.”

Shudu’s work continues to make an impact across Africa and beyond. With a Bachelor of Social Science in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University of Pretoria and an Honours degree in International Relations from the University of the Witwatersrand, she is a strong believer in the power of education to transform lives.

Her role as the first Regional Champion for Eastern and Southern Africa with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) allows her to advocate for sexual and reproductive health rights and mental wellbeing — issues close to her heart. Through her advocacy, she has become a leading voice for young people, encouraging open conversations about mental health and emotional healing.

The statement continued: “Her influence extends beyond advocacy — through her two books on mental health, Shudu has inspired countless individuals to embrace healing and self-awareness with courage and grace.

Now, she joins #OYW25 to empower young leaders to build a world rooted in empathy, education, and resilience.”

Expressing her joy about the opportunity, Shudu shared, “So excited! I can’t wait to meet all the change makers.”

As she prepares to represent South Africa on the global stage, Shudu Musida’s participation in the One Young World Summit stands as another milestone in her mission to promote compassion, education, and positive change for all.
