Six Killed in Horror Crash on N2 in KwaZulu-Natal

A tragic accident on the N2 between Amatigulu and Dokodweni in KwaZulu-Natal has claimed six lives after a head-on collision between a truck carrying sugar and a light motor vehicle on Saturday morning.

The collision occurred at around 08:30 AM, instantly killing five occupants of the car. The truck driver, initially thought to be missing, was later found trapped in the mangled wreckage. Sadly, he was declared dead at the scene, bringing the death toll to six.

Emergency teams, including IPSS Medical Search and Rescue, rushed to the scene and used the jaws of life to recover the driver’s body. The Road Traffic Inspectorate (RTI) and SAPS Accident Unit have since launched an investigation into the cause of the crash.

KwaZulu-Natal Transport and Human Settlements MEC Siboniso Duma expressed his condolences to the victims’ families, stressing the urgent need for stricter enforcement of the “Alufakwa” and “Zero Tolerance” road safety campaigns to address the province’s alarming road death toll.

🙏 Our thoughts are with the bereaved families during this difficult time.
